Obituary:
Juanita C. Brown, of Marble Hill, died Thursday, August 30, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Bessville, Mo., the daughter of Paul Ferdinand and Della Caroline Robins Rhodes. She married Wilford Brown on Sept. 24, 1949, at Lutesville, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2007.
Juanita was a well-known, talented seamstress in the Marble Hill area. She was also a funeral director in Bollinger County, working for Baker Funeral Home and Hutchings Funeral Chapel. She retired from funeral directing in 2005.
She worked as an EMT with her husband, operating the first Bollinger County ambulance service. She was a member of Eastern Star, Marble Hill Victory Chapter 431 and a member of Hahn's Chapel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert P. Brown (Debi) of Jackson, Mo., and a step-son, Derek Brown of Edinburgh, Scotland; a granddaughter, Becky Deck (Johnathan) of Glenallen, Mo.; step-grandchildren, Matt Zschille(Karrie) of Jackson, Mo., and Christi Peters (Keith) of St. Louis, Mo.; a great-grandson, Tucker Deck, a step-great-granddaughter, Sydney Peters; three brothers, Winfred, Charles, and Clayton Rhodes, all of Marble Hill; and two sisters, Anna Mae Irvin of Marble Hill, Mo., and Ruby Fuller of Rockport, Ill.
Her parents and three brothers, Paul, Delmer and Clinton, predeceased her.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, at the Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept 5, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
