Obituary:

Troy Nathan Patton of Marble Hill, formerly of Glen Allen, Mo., was born June 19, 1917, in Bollinger County, Mo., to Charles A. and Vallie Lincoln Patton. He died at Elder Care of Marble Hill on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008. He was 91 years, five months, and one day of age.

Troy married Lora Sheppard Patton on Sept. 19, 1937. They had five children. In 1956 they divorced and he married Ruth Williams. They lived in Chaffee, Mo., while he worked for the Frisco Railroad as a conductor and brakeman. He worked the railroad from 1944 to 1972. In the 1970's Troy and Ruth moved to Glen Allen where they operated a cabinet shop. They enjoyed their rural home on the creek bank.

He is survived by his wife, four children: Zane and Shirley Prosser of Edwardsville, Ill., Shelby Slinkard of Marion, Ill., Darrell and Carol Patton of Springdale, Ark., Roy and Linda Patton of Wood River, Ill.; four stepchildren: Betty Williams of Brookfield, Mo., Willis and Jenny Williams of Greenville, Mo., Jerry and Anna Williams of Chaffee, John and Karen Hayes of Dexter; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; nine step-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Troy Dee Patton, a son-in-law, Harley Slinkard, a stepson, Willard Williams, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation and funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 24, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until the funeral service starts at 1 p.m. Rev. Watis Harrell will officiate. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
