Obituary:

Roy Hershel Abernathy, age 80, of Marble Hill, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born on August 15, 1935 in Stoddard County, Missouri; son of Clarence Harley and Mary M. Lawson Abernathy. He and Oneta Lucille Buchholtz were united in marriage in August 1966 and she passed away on July 8, 2013.

Roy was a farmer, worked as a reserved deputy for Januar Peters, as a security officer for Bill Gilmore, retired from Lee Rowan and was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by his daughter Lori Abernathy of Marble Hill; sister-n-laws Glenna Hohler; and Mabel Buchholtz of Jackson, Missouri; Wanda Darr of St. Louis and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Oneta; parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, Missouri.
