Ruby LaVerne Campbell,81, of Marble Hill, Mo., passed away on October 11, 2009, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Born July 22, 1928, at Flat River, Mo., she was the daughter of William and Dora Burcham Duncan. Her mother died when she was two years old, and her father married Anthem Duncan who raised her.

On December 18, 1948, she married Leon Junior Campbell at Patton Presbyterian Church. She and Leon lived in Flat River, Farmington and Bunker before moving to Marble Hill in 1989. Leon preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2005.

Ruby was a homemaker, but she enjoyed many activities -- especially socializing. Her favorite pasttime was going to garage sales. This and her church family at Point Pleasant Church provided her many opportunities for visiting. She enjoyed sewing and making beaded jewelry, singing and attending country music concerts, and her family.

She is survived by a daughters, Sherry Green of Marble Hill, and Carol Rhodes of Cape Girardeau, and a son, Michael Campbell of Glen Allen; a sister, Delores Forsythe of Farmington, Mo. and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Viola Johnson and Pearl Harper and Ethel and Helen Duncan, and one brother,Ralph Duncan, predeceased her.

Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Funeral services will be on Wed, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Rev. Gene Robbins will officiate with burial in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
