Obituary:

Lela Viola Jaco Silman, 85, of Jackson, MO, fell asleep in Jesus' arms Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.

She was born March 28, 1924 in Catron MO; the daughter of Marion Everett and Stella May Statler Jaco. She and Arnold Edward Silman were married July 31, 1944. He preceded her in death April 1968.

She was recently a resident at Jackson Manor Nursing Facility. She previously resided at Lindenwood apartments for 20 years. She survived by two daughters, Linda Fay (Edgar) Abernathy and Clara Ann (James) Southerland; four granddaughters, Sandra (Jamie) Long of Jackson, Rosetta Marylee (Jamie) Jones of Jackson, Vanessa Marie Southerland of Cape Girardeau, and Jennifer Violet (Justin) Tapley of Thebes, IL, three Grandsons, Chad Leon (Sharon) Abernathy and Keith Edgar Abernathy both of Cape Girardeau and Willie James Southerland Jr. of Jackson, and eighteen Great-Grandchildren.

Lela worked as a babysitter in her own home and was a member of the First General Baptist Church of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Genice Huffman, one brother Clyde P. Jaco, granddaughter Patricia Fay Huffman, and two great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9, 2009, from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO.
