Obituary:

Glen W. Francis, age 87, of Cape Girardeau, MO died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born August 24, 1920 at Grassy, MO son of William Lorance and Emma Elizabeth Patterson Francis.

Mr. Francis was a member of the Scopus Church of Christ, a School Teacher for thirty years from 1948 to 1978. Teaching at first in one room school houses, and then teaching for twenty eight years in the Zalma School district where he taught for twenty five of those years in the Industrial Arts Department. He also was a member of the Certified Teachers Association and the Missouri Teachers Association.

Mr. Francis served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corps as a Sergeant, were he was awarded six bronze stars for the campaigns of Air Offensive in Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.

Survivors include; two brothers Gene Francis of Marble Hill, Ralph Francis of Nelson, Georgia, and one sister Ruth Miller of Cape Girardeau, MO.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Raymond, Claude, Henry and three sisters Oma Phillips, Pearl Francis and Ruby Reitman.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel with Kelly and Kenny Francis officiating; burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill with full Military Honors provided by VFW Post #5900.
