Obituary:

Regina Carlene Smith age 65, of Jackson, MO; passed away on Saturday February 8, 2014 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital after a courageous 16 year battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 4, 1948 in Poplar Bluff, MO; daughter of Carl E and Trella Mae Pape Ward. She and Mackey H Smith were united in marriage on October 31, 1964.

Regina attended school at Zalma, was saved and baptized in August 1959 at the Zalma Missionary Baptist Church. She grew up and learned to play the piano for small churches in the area. The past 20 years she attended Connection Point formerly Jackson First General Baptist Church and she loved listening to Gospel music.

She worked hard for her family and owned and operated Jeans Carpet Store with her husband Mackey and drove a school bus for over 25 years.

Survivors include: her husband Mackey; son Mackey H. Smith Jr. of Jackson; daughters Amy (Steve) Ledbetter of Jackson; Karla (Will) Adams of Jackson; sister Janet (Ron) Finn of Marble Hill; grandchildren Josh Ledbetter, Ashley (Jesse) Mullins, Kailey, Kassidy, Kamryn Adams, Breana (Aaron) Cruz, great-grandchildren Bobbi Jo Mullins, Eden Cruz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Conrad Ward, paternal and maternal grandparents A. C. and Eula Pape, and Grace and Leonard Ward.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Liley Funeral Homes with the Revs. Ray Meek, Chris Vaught and Lloyd Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
