Obituary:

Evelyn Emmalaur Welker, 98, of Marble Hill passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 15, 1913, in Greenfield, Tenn., daughter of Mellie and Bird Stout Shirrill. She and Ardith Welker were married Aug. 17, 1935. He passed away June 17, 1985.

Evelyn was a line supervisor at Inland Shoe Co. She was a member of the Community Church in Marble Hill.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Underwood of Cape Girardeau and Betty McDaniels of St. Louis; five granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend Jamie Cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, James David; three daughters, Edna Mae, Martha Sue and Elwanda; and a sister, Leora Scurlock.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Diana Cook officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
