Obituary:
Norma Jean Crader, 86, of Marble Hill, Mo., was born to earthly life on October 30, 1927, in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Earl and Mabel Seiler Schlobohm. She entered into eternal life on November 14, 2013, from St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Norma dedicated herself to her Christian faith early in life. She began her journey in Chicago at the Baptist Training School. Transferring to Millikan University in Decator, Ill., she obtained a Masters Degree and spent 13 years as a Christian educator. At Eden Seminary in Webster Groves she completed training for her ministry within the Presbyterian Church.
In 1963, she was the first ordained woman minister in the Giddings-Lovejoy Prebytery and the third woman ordained by the Presbyterian Church in Missouri. She worked many years at the Lutesville Presbyterian Church in Marble Hill.
On November 1, 1975, she married James C. Crader. He survives. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 17, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Bass officiating. Burial will follow at Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
