Obituary:

Virginia Rose Shirrell, 86, of Zalma passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at her home. She was born March 7, 1927, in Arab, Mo., daughter of Emanuel Jake and Susan Ethel Fish Sitze. Rose and Roy W. Shirrell were married June 30, 1947. He preceded her in death September 30, 2010.

Rose was a teacher in one-room schools at McGee and Leora, Mo. She later taught at Zalma many years. She was a member of Shady Dell General Baptist Church and of Marble Hill VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Vernon (Valli) Shirrell of Zalma and Leeman and Linda Shirrell of Advance, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ed Shirrell officiating and the Rev. Jack Faries assisting. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park in Marble Hill, Mo.
