Obituary:

Joseph Tinsley, 90, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., was born in Lilbourn, MO., January 15, 1923, and passed away at his home November 24, 2013.

He was married to Dona Lewis in Lilbourn Christmas Day 1941. She preceded him in death November 25, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Gustavus and Amanda Tinsley; brothers, Charles and Lawrence; and sisters, Jennie Jacobucci, Ann Hailey, Rosalee Wagner and Zallah Bell.

Mr. Tinsley was a US Army veteran of World War II, and was awarded the bronze stars for his service in New Guinea and the Philippian Islands, before returning to farming in Lilbourn, New Madrid and later in Puxico and Marble Hill. For the past five years he has made his home in Poplar Bluff with his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Bob Dever. He was a member of the Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center.

He is survived by one son, Danny Joe (Diane) Tinsley of Platte Wood, MO.; one daughter, Linda (Dr. Robert) Dever of Poplar Bluff; two granddaughters, Rene’ (Dr. Michael) Berry of Platte Wood and Regina (Bryan) Stevenson of Joplin, MO.; five great-grandchildren, Natalie and Cameron Berry of Platte Wood and Preston, Julianna and Adam Stevenson of Joplin.

Visitation will begin at the church Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at 9:30 A.M. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO.
